Code of Practice

The AREF Code of Practice is a voluntary Code whose stated aim is to encourage the members of AREF to adopt best practice wherever possible. Its aim is to achieve a transparency that will be to the ultimate benefit of real estate funds, their Managers and investors and to promote consistency and comparability between such funds.

The Code of Practice is a working document that will require regular updates to reflect market, regulatory and policy changes.  It is intended to raise standards in the industry and AREF will continuously review and update standards of best practice.

The Code is split into three levels of compliance:

A.   Minimum Compliance
B.   Best Practice
C.   Under Review

The role of the AREF Management Committee is to encourage all members to use reasonable efforts to comply with the Code and to disclose the extent to which they do or do not comply with the minimum compliance criteria.

The latest Code of Practice (issued in 2009) and associated additional guidance can be downloaded using the links above.
