Our investor members are invited to our webinar to consider a highly topical issue from leading commentators. 

The funds sector can deliver the best results for investors and other stakeholders and reflect social norms by being truly diverse and inclusive. Our webinar considers these issues from perspective of indirect real estate investors and consultants. How can we facilitate  and measure progress on D&I issues?   

This webinar is open to AREF Investor members only (by this we mean indirect investors only, rather than those investing in direct property). This event is run in association with the Real Estate Investors' Forum (REIF) and PropertyMatch.

• Speaker: Anne Breen, Member of the AREF D&I Taskforce and Head of Investment Strategy (Real Estate) at Abrdn, will discuss the AREF D&I Taskforce plans with a focus on AREF Investor Members

Head of Investment Strategy (Real Estate), Abrdn

Anne’s role is to lead the investment approach, process and strategy for the real estate business at Aberdeen Standard. This includes the creation of a Global Houseview to support real estate investment allocations relevant to all investor outcomes, as well as the development of the risk based tools and strategic insights to deliver a strong long term risk adjusted track record for clients. Anne chairs the global committees across the Real Estate business assessing fund strategic plans for investment, distributions and asset management.

Helen Price

Stewardship Manager, Brunel Pension Partnership Ltd

Helen leads on stewardship, engagement and voting at Brunel Pension Partnership (Brunel). She draws on knowledge built from her BA (honours) in Business Studies and from working in different sectors. Helen is eager to improve representation within the industry and at companies in which we invest, she is a member of the Diversity Project Steering Committee and co-leads the Asset Owner Diversity Group. Helen is also a member of the PRI’s Plastic Investor Working Group and the PRI Reporting and Assessment Advisory Committee; she is passionate about the role of pension funds in moving to a more sustainable business world and is involved in industry wide initiatives to improve standards in responsible investment and corporate sustainability.

Melville Rodrigues

Head – Real Estate Advisory, Apex Group

Melville's practice focuses on the launch and operation of funds, including funds which hold underlying real estate investments in the UK as well as internationally. The funds have attracted institutional, private and retail investors.

In addition to servicing clients, he has been involved in representing industry bodies in their dialogue with the Treasury and the FCA. He is a regular contributor to the real estate press. Melville is the honorary legal adviser to the London Doughnut Economy Coalition.
