The FCA’s consultation (CP22/20) on Sustainability Disclosure Requirements (SDR) and investment labels has been described as an ESG-regulatory game-changer.  This webinar considers the implications of the FCA’s proposals relating to SDR and labels for our real estate sector. The discussion will focus on highly topical issues like the policy intent of the UK regulator and the strategic challenges and opportunities for the sector.

In addition to servicing clients, he has been involved in representing industry bodies in their dialogue with the Treasury and the FCA. He is a regular contributor to the real estate press.

Louisa is a Senior Associate in the FCA’s ESG Policy and Advisory team where she focuses on sustainability-related disclosures. She is currently leading on the Sustainability Disclosure Requirements and investment labels, having previously led on climate-related disclosure rules for asset managers and FCA-regulated asset owners. She also supports work with IOSCO on corporate reporting on sustainability. Prior to joining the FCA she was the Derivatives Editor at Global Investor Group (a Euromoney publication), and previously led a team of European language content editors at Thomson Reuters.

Shuen is a high-impact pioneer within the sustainable investment marketplace with over 25 years of leadership and board experience, providing invaluable expertise in mobilising capital towards a more sustainable economy and equitable society.

Shuen is Head of Responsible Investment & Sustainability at Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) Real Assets and is responsible for the strategy, product development and integration of ESG and sustainable investments across LGIM’s private markets portfolio, which includes real estate equity, infrastructure and private credit.  Shuen’s expertise is centred on the intersection of sustainable finance, climate change and impact investing, following a career in asset management and capital markets. 

She was previously Managing Partner and Co-founder at a mission-driven advisory firm pivotal in guiding institutional investors to better understand and prepare for climate and sustainability investment risks and opportunities. Her commitment and expertise was further shaped through her experience in launching a climate investment company focused on nature-based solutions operating across the emerging markets. Shuen’s deep background and network within the investment community was established as a founding team member of one of Europe’s fastest-growing asset management firms, European Credit Management, where she was Head of Structured Product Origination.  Her early career path led her through positions within Debt Capital Markets and Treasury teams at financial institutions, including Deutsche Bank, Macquarie and HSBC, spanning Asian and European regions.

As a board member of the Better Buildings Partnership, Shuen champions collaborative engagement and scalable solutions to drive greater sustainability, place-based impact and achieving net zero goals for the built environment and infrastructure sector. She serves on the CFA ESG Advisory panel, which is responsible for the strategic direction of the Certificate for ESG Investing. Additionally, she is an independent trustee of The Lightbulb Trust, a charitable foundation that supports social inclusion through grant giving and impact investments.
