Our FUNDamentals series is designed to enhance the understanding of real estate funds through six focused sessions tailored to different aspects of fund management.

Session Three: "Introduction to Fund Taxation"

The third session of the series, Introduction to Fund Taxation, will take place on Thursday 6th November 2025 at PGIM Real Estate’s office on the Strand.

This session will provide an accessible overview of fund structures and the key taxation considerations that shape them. It is designed to help participants build confidence in understanding the fundamentals of taxation within the funds landscape.

Spaces are limited! Registrations will be on a first-come, first-served basis, with a maximum of two attendees per member firm. Any third registrations from the same firm may be removed, and you will be notified if this occurs.

Nick Burt

Nick Burt

Partner, CMS Cameron McKinnon Nabarro Olswang

Nick is a Partner in the Tax team at CMS Cameron McKinnon Nabarro Olswang with experience in advising on all aspects of tax planning and structuring for corporate clients in relation to mergers and acquisitions, reorganisations and joint ventures.

Nick advises clients in respect of the tax efficient acquisition, development, investment and disposal of real assets. Nick also advises in relation to the establishment and operation of investment funds and joint venture arrangements, particularly in respect of UK and European investments.

Nick has been with CMS (previously Nabarro), since 2000, having previously worked at PwC in New Zealand. Nick has law and commerce degrees from Victoria University, Wellington and is also a member of the British Property Federation tax committee.

Charles Crowe

Charles Crowe

Managing Director, Head of UK Investment, PGIM Real Estate

Charles Crowe is a managing director at PGIM Real Estate. Based in London, Charles has been part of a team that has built a long term investment management business with AUM in excess of £2.2 billion with further committed capital with exciting growth prospects. The team has introduced a number of new UK pension fund clients to the company and established strong relationships with all the major UK and European consultants. Charles and the UK team have also created several bespoke mandates for  the institutional client base. Charles is a member of the European Executive Council.

Prior to joining PGIM Real Estate in 2009, Charles was a senior member of the UBS Global Asset Management UK Real Estate business and a member of its UK Investment Committee. He was Head of Transactions,

transacting on over £2bn of assets for both core and opportunistic funds. Charles was also a key member of the team which created the Secure Income Property Fund and the South East Recovery Fund (a closed ended Office fund).

Charles has over 31 years of real estate industry experience and has worked as an investment surveyor in both the UK and Continental European real estate markets. He also has considerable asset management experience. 

Charles is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and sits on the AREF (Association of Real Estate Funds) Training and Education Committee.
