Open to all AREF Members, this webinar, from the AREF Education & Training Committee, aims to discuss COVID-19 experiences with speakers from across the US, Europe and Asia.  Speakers will take us through how the real estate market in their country has been affected by the Coronavirus, lessons learned and the challenges they are facing in their recovery.  Topics during the panel will include:

The Education &Training Committee is planning a follow up webinar later in the year to explore how business has been impacted, and the challenges the recovery stage is bringing.

Christina Ofschonka

Managing Director Fund Management , AEW

Christina Ofschonka is a Senior Fund Manager at AEW, based in Frankfurt. Christina is responsible for the management of two Pan-European funds, including oversight of fund strategy, portfolio construction and client relationships.

Prior to joining AEW in 2016, Christina worked as a Portfolio Manager at ALTE LEIPZIGER AG for seven years where she was in charge of building a diversified core portfolio. In addition to Germany, Christina has also spent time working in Milan and Paris during her 14 years of experience.

Christina started her career at IVG, where she accompanied the OIK-Merger and took part in building up a European transactions team. She has a wide network on international real estate and retail markets. Christina is a graduate of the Hochschule Aschaffenburg and additionally holds the title CIIA (Certified International Investment Analyst) of the Deutsche Vereinigung für Finanzanalyse und Asset Management (DVFA).

Christina is fluent in English, German, French and Italian.

Henry Chin

Head of Research APAC/ EMEA , CBRE

Dr. Henry Chin is responsible for overseeing all research activity across the region, which includes India, Greater China, South East Asia, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Henry and his team ensure that a full and innovative range of research, analysis and consultancy services is provided for CBRE clients. In 2016 Henry was promoted to CBRE’s Asia Pacific Strategic Group (APSG), the board which oversees CBRE’s strategic direction in the region.

Before joining CBRE, Henry was Head of Asia Pacific Research and Strategy at Pramerica Real Estate Investors, Prudential Financials Inc. for two and half years. In this role, Henry was responsible for developing and providing real estate investment strategy in Asia Pacific. This analysis guided decision-making across the business—at strategic and tactical levels—and supported a series of publications on market issues and prospects.

Henry has more than 14 years research experience in the Asia Pacific and Global real estate markets. He holds a BA in Land Economic and Administration from National Taipei University (Taiwan); an MSc in Real Estate from the University of Reading (UK) and a PhD in Real Estate Investment from Oxford Brookes University (UK). He has presented and published numerous papers at various leading international real estate conferences and in academic journals.

Christina Hill

Managing Director Head of Asset Management, Americas, PGIM

Christy Hill is a managing director at PGIM Real Estate and the head of Americas Asset Management. Based in New York, Christy is responsible for representing the Asset Management function as part of the Americas leadership team and partners with the U.S. and Latin America portfolio teams to lead and implement PGIM Real Estate’s asset management strategy for all our investments in the region. She is a member of the U.S. Management Council, Americas Executive Council, a member of the Debt Investment Committee, PRREF Investment Committee, and the U.S. and Latin America Investment Committees.

Most recently, Christy was with Clarion Partners as a managing director and assistant portfolio manager for the firm’s flagship core real estate fund. In that role, she was responsible for acquisitions and dispositions, asset management and investor communications. Prior to that, Christy was a senior member of Clarion’s asset management group, overseeing investment results of core and value-add investments in multiple West Coast markets. Previously, Christy worked at American Realty Advisors for more than a decade in senior roles across asset management and portfolio management.

Christy has a bachelor of science in sociology from the University of Colorado and a master’s degree in real estate development from the University of Southern California.

Gordon Lui

Deputy Managing Director, Capital Markets, China Head of Capital Markets, North China, Cushman & Wakefield

Gordon is the Deputy Managing Director, Capital Markets for China Cushman & Wakefield, and Vice President of the Hotel Industry Association, National Real Estate Managers Association, and Consultant for the Professional Committee of Real Estate Investment, Insurance Asset Management Association of China.

Gordon has 14 years' experience in real estate investment and advisory services. He has completed Real Estate disposals & acquisitions of over RMB 40b (GBP 4.57b). Gordon has assisted China Travel Services to acquire UK Kew Green Hotel Portfolio at over GPB 400m in 2015.

Darren Stolzenberg

Funds & Indirect Real Assets Team, CMS UK

Darren is Chair of the AREF Education & Training Committee. He is a Partner in CMS UK's Funds and Indirect Real Assets team. He is qualified in Australia and England, and has been practising law in London since 1999.

Darren has acted on a large and varied number of real assets transactions, often with an international element. He now focuses on structuring transactions through indirect vehicles such as companies, limited partnerships, unit trusts and offshore vehicles. He advises on UK and international fund establishments, joint ventures, corporatised asset sales and acquisitions and also advises investors looking to invest in UK, pan-European and global funds.
