A joint AREF/ IPF webinar discussion to gather member feedback on the Spring Budget 2020 consultation, which the AREF Tax Committee are working on.

Following the UK Budget on 11th March, the Government announced it will undertake a review of the UK’s funds regime during 2020 (read more about this here).  As an opening step of this review, an industry consultation has been issued on the Tax treatment of asset holding companies in alternative fund structures that seeks to gather evidence and explore the attractiveness of the UK as a location for intermediate entities through which alternative funds hold fund assets. The wider review is expected to take place through 2020 and will cover direct and indirect tax, as well as relevant areas of regulation with a view to “considering the case for targeted and merited policy changes”.

The AREF Tax Committee and the IPF Indirect Investment Committee are both preparing responses to the consultation and would welcome the opportunity to discuss both tax and commercial points with members.
