Developed from real-world experience
The guide has been informed by direct industry insight, drawing on a survey of AREF ESG Committee members to identify solutions they have successfully piloted in practice. This was complemented by comprehensive desk research, including a review of the UKGBC Solutions Library and Commercial Retrofit Innovation Map, which together feature over 500 potential interventions.
AREF worked closely with UKGBC, energy specialists and industry practitioners to shortlist and validate the most effective technologies for reducing energy use in commercial buildings.
